I’m back from my wife’s hometown function today. While I was there, I met lots of our relatives. I felt good speaking to some of our relatives. While going to have food, one of our relatives started conservation related to constructing their rental property near their home and showed me the building plan. I didn’t see the building plan properly because it looks small on his mobile. Instead, I simply asked a few questions about their construction and the contract terms he made with his building contractor....

We made some terrible mistakes (at least in my point of view) in our first building, something related to wall drop. I came across that fact after few months of housewarming function. That, too, accidently. When I compared our wall drop, out of 3 wall drop, only 1 wall drop is good. The rest 2 of them are not. As for any mistakes, I realised this very late. Now, I cannot do anything about it apart from feeling bad....

Today, my work is filled with applying for a lot of credit cards. The reason is the discount we get when shopping online. Sometimes, I miss discounts due to not having that specific bank credit card. And I only apply for free credit cards… Not the cards that require any annual fees and all. Anyway… Today’s topic is Why you need to have a good relationship with your contractors even after construction work is over, especially with Building contractors....

Few days back we met our first cement supplier when we went to vegetable shopping there. He started speaking to my dad and asking “why you are no longer doing business with us.” For your information, he not only sells cement and steel. He also has shamiyana and light items as well. Usually, for any of our functions, we used to order from his shop earlier. After realising the cement price difference between his shop and another secret shop, we stopped buying cement, steel and shamiana items from his shop....

Yesterday, my Mom and my wife went to a baby naming ceremony at the backside of our house. After finishing the function, both of them returned. I returned from my home office (new building) to our house (first house) to ask how the function was… Good. Both replied. While having a conservation, my wife informed me that they wanted to reconstruct their house. For your information, that house owner had 2 sons and 1 daughter....

We always make some changes while doing construction work. Similarly, we also changed the window placement on our first building. The building contractor labourer already built a wall and placed a window. After that, someone came to the building and gave a good and valid suggestion. That time, we decided to accept that suggestion and make changes in our building where labourers had already done the work. If it’s small work, usually labourers do that themself....

This incident happened in our first building. Our construction work is over. We also moved to our new building… Everything is going well until the rainy season starts. When the rain started, we noticed some mistakes but didn’t take them seriously. As days passed, we repeatedly did the same problem-fixing task. We thought we could have used some of our brains at that moment. If we properly think that time… now we don’t need to bother fixing that rain issue every time it rains....

A few days back, while I was writing the Rainy Days guide, I was collecting related images for a better explanation. Our building images I already have. I also tried to collect a few nearby building images who made similar mistakes in their house. I took images differently. I used Google Street Maps to take other building images. The reason is, how could I go in front of another house and take photos?...

Last Sunday all our family members went to my brother’s wife’s home. In their house, I have one favourite place to spend my time. It’s in the first-floor sit-out area where one single-seater swing is installed. I love to spend most of the time there because of the natural ventilation, and I love playing with that swing chair… While playing, I noticed something looked different on their sit-out area flooring....

At the end of our house construction stage, we went to buy drainage slabs. Me and my dad went to shop for it… The problem is that only one seller is selling the type of slab we are looking to buy in our area. He doesn’t have any competitors for that product. So we got no chance to ask for prices from different shops. When we asked the price, the seller quoted a price....
