When we were constructing our second house, I went to a nearby hardware shop to buy some items. There, a new lady homeowner came to purchase some items. During billing time, that lady asked the shop owner for an alternative solution for the float valve. As it stops water before filling the sump. She was explaining the same issue that I was facing. Her sump tap is installed somewhat down inside the sump, and the standard float valve does not allow the tap to fill the water....

Staying in rental property is one type of problem… Having our own house and managing it properly is another type of problem… This is what I noticed after we entered our first house. Out of all the homeowner’s problems, one problem that fell under my responsibility was operating the sump valve weekly. The float valve is a perfect solution to automate… In our case, our tap is located a little deep inside the sump....

Once we entered our first building after house construction was over, the issue I noticed was operating the Sump Valve every week. I was the only guy who needed to monitor and operate the sump valve On/Off every time… because I’m the guy who works from my home office and stays at home. So, every week, I need to turn off my sump valve when water starts overflowing from our sump....

Yesterday was Saturday, so my brother was staying at our house. So, I planned to implement my Sump automation to stop water automatically once the sump is full. This is the same as what float valves do, but no height limit exists. That means… no matter where your Tap located inside the sump, it can perform On/Off of tap based on the water level you set. The same concept has been implemented in my first building but not in the second building… now recently our water man leaving too much water so we need to On and Off tap many times a week....

Yesterday, my dad and my daughter went to his friend’s house, which is the backside of our house. It is a casual visit. My dad often visits them to spend their free time. During their visit, Dad’s friend tried calling the water tanker guy from their phone. That time, my dad enquired why the water tanker… They said no water was there in the sump. To which he asked when onwards you are taking tanker water?...

A few days back, I shared my thoughts about FRP cover for sump here. Within a few days, I came across some bad news related to a similar/same kind of sump cover. If you look carefully, you will see the sump cover used in the building is an FRP cover or a sump cover that doesn’t have a lock mechanism....

I’m just back from the temple and writing this email calmly. From the last two days onwards, while I was casually watching YouTube shorts, I came across videos where the sump cover is covered with an FRP Cover. What an irony… Even some experienced builders make the same mistake when they construct buildings. I came across that in one YT video recently. That’s why I’m writing this email. Once, one of my friends in my village also asked for suggestions about using FRP for a sump cover…....

Today, I noticed something interesting. Today, the waterman left water on our line/house. Our sump got full and started overflowing at 12:08PM. So my dad closed the valve. (We have an automated valve closing in our house. We once removed it, we didn’t put it back. I will talk about that in the Sump Automation Guide) At 6 PM, our opposite house sump got full and started overflowing. Today, no one was there in their house, so I called our area water man to stop water in our line....

Bangalore users already started facing water issues. If you watch the news, you may probably be aware of the issues currently going on in Banglore. I don’t watch any news. Still, some serious news comes to me. Anytime summer comes, water scarcity rises, and water tankers’ golden period starts. Some tankers make good money. This is a golden period for them… Here in Mysore, I still see some house sump water overflowing in the road even though they have metered connections....

They are not aware of what’s happening outside… I saw this today while I was returning from our first house to the second house through the backside door after my breakfast. It’s happening in dad’s friend’s house. As we knew of them, I informed my dad to call and inform the uncle. He called and informed them about water was overflowing from their sump....
