It’s 1st Dec 2022. I informed our plumbing contractor to come early… Look like he took my words too seriously and came around 9 am itself instead of his normal time like - 11:30 Am, which is usually after dropping his daughter at her school. Me and my dad still yet to have breakfast. As he showed up in front of our home, we were left with no option apart from going with him to show the Top floor water pressure issue....
Suddenly 2 people came with our granite contractor to our construction house at 10 Am. No, no… not a severe issue. Our granite contractor… “Sir, they have to see our granite work. Please give me the building keys so I can show the work?” My dad. “OK., here are the keys”. They went to see the granite work and returned after a few minutes to give back the keys. All of them left now....
Our NEW building painting work is going on. The same painting contractor took another building painting contract. That other building owner is our friend itself, and their building is just behind our building. Like every Contractor, he also Started their painting work and left working after a few days telling let other (Wood, Granite & Tiles) work get complete and then will start painting work or else again I need to do painting work....
Once we assign work to contractors for specific work we usually think it’s contractor work and don’t usually monitor labours. It’s a big mistake we do. Specially in buidling construction contract work. When we started our house construction we thought in a similar way and never worried whether contractor laborer working or not for a few months. After few months into starting our house construction work, we started realizing we are doing wrong and started watching laborers work because we are paying the building contractors based on the number of laborers he used to send to work....
Fortunately, when we started our house construction, we had a written contract with our Building Construction contractor. But we ignored all other contractors thinking other contractors will have less work, and we never made a written agreement with other contractors. That’s a Big mistake we did. We never had a single issue with our building contractor. We mentioned all the stuff covered under that contract and at what price he will do....
