Overhead Tank Overflowing: Water Level Controller Issue

If you installed a water level controller, one thing you should know is that after one or two years, it will allow your overhead tank to overflow. 

It happened to us. Yesterday it happened at our friend's house as well.

Here's why it happens. 

If your area water contains calcium, it will deposit on the water level controller sensor. As a result, the sensor stops sensing. That's when your overhead tank starts overflowing.

It happens yearly. Not regularly. So it's not a big issue. 

But if it happens at the wrong time, then you may need to spend money on tanker water. The motor will continuously run until the sump water is over. 

Yesterday, samething happened at my friend's house. Their parents went to their hometown. My friend went to the office. Here in their home, the water keeps overflowing in their overhead tank. When their Tenants informed them about the issue, they called us to check. 

My dad went; the sump water was almost empty. My dad turned off their motor's power supply.  

This is one drawback you should keep in mind with the water level controller unit. If you want to avoid such an issue, clean your sensors yearly... You won't face such issue.

If you have not yet installed a water level controller, you are doing a lot of manual work. Just install one and get your time back. Here is the one I'm using, and it's been running well for the past few years.

Just beware that if wiring is not done during house construction, you may need some labour to do it. Without having wiring in place, don't buy the unit. You need to run a wire from the sump to the overhead tank. Which is not easy in most cases.
